Lesson Target: You must have a relationship with the Savior for yourself. You cannot depend on others to get you to Heaven!
Ezekiel 14:20 (AMP) Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would but deliver their own lives by their righteousness (their moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).
There are those who live today believing that their parents’ or family members’ righteousness will be enough to take them to heaven. They believe that the prayers of their family will be enough to take them to heaven. Note the biblical characters that are mentioned in this verse: Noah, Daniel and Job.
Although the author is speaking of Jerusalem, he states clearly that these righteous men could save nobody but themselves. This reminds me of the women in the New Testament who should have been ready for the Bridegroom. Note Matthew 25:1-13.
Matthew 25:2 (AMP) Five of them were foolish (thoughtless, without forethought) and five were wise (sensible, intelligent, and prudent). Pay close attention to verses 9-10.
Matthew 25:10 (AMP) But while they were going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were prepared went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.
There was not enough oil to be shared. They only had enough for themselves. Your relationship with God cannot be based upon your friends, or even your family. Your relationship has to be personal with Him. He wants to talk with you as you talk with Him. As you and I open our hearts concerning our shortcomings, our doubts and fears, even our needs, He will work miracles in your life. Remember this:
FAITH IS THE KEY THAT OPENS THE DOOR TO A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. IT BRINGS HOPE, HEALING AND SAFETY AS YOU WALK IN HIS FOOTSTEPS.
THAT IS WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT WITH YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FATHER…YOU ARE HIS CHILD…AND HE IS YOUR PLACE OF SAFETY AND HOPE.
