The religious leaders wanted to condemn the woman, but Jesus wanted to forgive her. Notice the change in the woman’s attitude. She calls Him “Lord.”
1 Corinthians 12:3 (KJV)
(3) “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.”
Jesus sees this woman’s heart and faith. Notice what Jesus says. He told her that He does not condemn her; sin no more. He acknowledges the sin of this woman. She has no excuse for her sin. Instead, she is forgiven her sin by the grace of God.
Romans 8:1 (KJV)
(1) “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
There is the form of a balanced message to this woman. She is told by Jesus to “go.” Then He says, “sin no more.” This is the negative aspect of Jesus’ message to her. Good Bible preaching and teaching has a balance of positives and negatives. If we sin, we have the choice to repent and move on. We do not have to remain in sin. We have an Advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous. I John 2:1
